Keepin Busy on the Creekside Front

In another attempt to get our music out to the mases, we've begun slanging our CD's out to Distros and Labels all accross this grand country. Hopefully we'll get a response, we're up to Idaho so far, an dare gonna make up another buttload of packets tonight.

If anybody has any connections, or knows of a radio station that might play us in their college town or whatever, let us know!

We're also throwing together a show on the 29th of June with local legends Slow Gherkin, The Spanish Bombs (formerly the Serial Carpens), and one other local band. It's gonna be at the Vet's Hall Auditorium (upstairs) and should be friggin' amazing.

We're also gonna be hitting up the tour from July 24th to August 5th, which should be a blast. If you know of a venue that we can play at down in Arizona, Nevada, or the other southern states, let us know.

Strange Things are Afoot at the Circle K...

Hmm... Well, by now everybody's come to know and love our new sax player, and band sock, Laura Roll. Well, on tuesday, she was involved in a major car accident. She's doin' all right (especially for someone who got hit head on by some guy doing 70 mph and put their head trough a windshield) but it might be some time before she's able to play a show with us, at least in full facility.

Every show will be a new adventure for us depending on wether or not we've got enough horn players and what not. So come on down and feel the funk with us. It should be interesting, if nothing else.

If you want to send Laura get well wishes, post 'em to the old message board, eh?

In other news, it looks like we'll be throwing our own show at the Santa Cruz Vet's hall at the end of June, so keep your eyes peeled.

New Member, New Songs, New Merch!

Well, I guess I'll just shoot down these headings as I ordered them:

New Member: Laura Roll, on the alto sax. She's a music major at UCSC that Jon met at the Saturn cafe' one night. She's been playing with us for a few weeks, and played four out of town shows with us so far. Your first opportunity to hear her play in Santa Cruz will be on the 15th, at the vet's hall. We need to get some pictures and stuff scanned in for her section on the web page, but soon enough, it'll be up.

New Songs: Yep, we're working hard as ever on our new songs. Between shows and working Laura into the band, we've been pretty damn busy trying to keep up with the songwriting process, but we're all happy with the way things are working out. We've got a couple (Ransom and Coward) that are almost ready for live shows, so soon enough, we'll be confusing you all over again! Just like in the old days!

New merch: We're also working on some new merch that'll most likely be ready for the 15th show as well. We're going to have new shirts and possibly temporary tattoos as well! We hope you guys will dig 'em! We're all excited about it.

We just got back from a trip up to Sacramento, and down to Isla Vista and San Diego. The people in those parts were all cool, and we had a great time playing with our buddies, the Serial Carpens down in Diego... not to mention meeting the crazy people that call themselves Team Karate Warehouse woah, those guys ruled.

Anyway... I'm off to greener pastures. Peace.

More Rare Creekans Tracks!

Back when we recorded 'for the time being', we had another cover that we recorded and never released. Next month, the audio magazine 'Doris Martini' will be releasing it's latest issue, complete with that rare track, and an interview with our very own Paul-D! Woo Hoo!

Maybe someday we'll finally release our cover of At Random's 'Well Kept Man' that we recorded way back when we recorded bobo. Most likely not. You'll just have to pine for it. It's on our first self-titled demo, so if you're really OG, you can check out our cabrillo college, pre horn section version of that mofo.

Accoustic Recording of New Material.

Last Weekend We headed on up to KMBY to record a song for Phyllis and Opie's Best of Accoustic Breakfast compilation CD. We decided it'd be cool to have a previously unreleased track on there, so we recorded "Throw Me a Line." It turned out pretty durn good (way better than we expected, seeing how lo-fi our other performances have been over there) and we're sure all you cats will dig it.

In other news, we've got about 8 other new songs that are brewing in the Bobo basement for y'all. They're coming along, one by one. Before you know it, we'll be promising that a new CD is coming out, and delaying it all over again! Woo Hoo!

Trouble and Delays with the CD...

Sike! If I was actually saying that right now, I'd shoot myself. The fact of the matter is this: the CD is in, we've got 1500 copies, and they're ready to sell on their August 18th release date! Everything turned out just as good as we'd hoped it would, maybe even better. People are really liking the looks and sounds of the new CD. Go us! Make sure you've got the cash for our new cd's and stickers when you come to the show on the 18th. word. Big ups to Bruce at faultline audio in Brookdale, and Marc Stein and i'm Stein Studios in San Jose, you guys rule.

New CD? Oh hell yes!

Ok, I'm gonna stop pussyfooting around the issue. The new CD is off at the presses and should be in our hot little hands by the end of this month. We did it locally at Faultline Audio in Ben Lomond. Bruce is a great guy who helped us out with our last CD release, while we were being screwed over by Europadisk. We're in much better hands this time, so I'm positive that we'll have our new CD out in time for the show... keep your fingers crossed and knock on wood just in case...

My cast comes off on the 26th... let's hope they don't put me in another one!

Memoirs of a broken leg

Well, the tour is over and I'm back at work. I'd have to say that this tour was the most fun I've had in quite some time. Aside form shattering my left leg and having to undergo surgery and all that good stuff, it was quite a hoot. As soon as I get the x-rays scanned in and all that I'll be sure to get them up on the page, along with other photos from the tour.

Big things are in the works for August, we're getting a show together with our buddies slow gherkin at the RioTheater in Santa Cruz, along with the Gadjits.

The phrase "New CD" has been floating about the creekan camp for the past few weeks, and it looks like something might be happening, but I won't say what. Just because I'm mean.

Thanks to everybody who came out for out June 28th show and treated us to the first ever thursday night showcase encore. Can I say that again? "First thursday night showcase encore EVER" oh hell yes. I like the sound of that one. That was the best, though, my broken ankle wasn't too happy about it.

No Rest for the Weary

Hey kids. March has been quite a month! What's happened since the last news breif... I dunno. A whole damn lot. If you really want to be on the cutting edge, sign up for our mailing list! We've been featured widely on KMBY, and played there live a couple of times to boot. We're very happy to get some of our material out on the air waves that doesn't involve somebody else's hooks (like hardcore and 90210)

Or new CD is finished, except for mixing, mastering, and artwork. Everyone that has heard it has pooped their pants. If you like what you hear live, you will love the new album! If you ant a pre-release copy, send \$1000 in unmarked bills to me, and I'll hook you up.

The Search continues for a new sax player, as well as a new guitarist. Both members have left for college-type reasons (though josh won't be leaving until summer), and we've got some prospective members out there, so don't expect us to miss a step. If you're interested, and have the time, drive, and devotion, give us a jingle.

Zing!
